In 2019, the Chinese automaker GAC launched the LX electric sports crossover, which was introduced as the second model of the Aion sub-brand after the S sedan. Recall that the Aion LX was created not only for sale in the domestic market, but almost immediately it became available to consumers abroad. The company also announced plans to create a car with a range of 1000 km or more (according to the NEDC protocol). This quality is possessed by the new Plus version, which goes on sale in 2022. In the new version, the crossover is offered in three versions: in addition to the top version with the above range, there are options with an autonomy of 650 and 600 km.

Externally, the Aion LX Plus differs from the previous model in the design of the front, which makes it look like the updated Aion S Plus sedan: the absence of a decorative insert between the headlights, a more aggressive design of the bottom of the bumper with a frequent “scallop” of the grille, divided into two parts, and with "fangs" trim. If we talk about the configuration of the crossover, then in the basic version it gets 19-inch wheels, a rich power package (in addition to the long-familiar functions for controlling exterior mirrors and door glasses, the standard is the power trunk, heated and ventilated front seats, position memory). The “base” also has wireless charging, climate control for two separate zones, a media system with 4G connectivity and 10 speakers, a 15.6-inch central monitor, and a digital “tidy”. In a more expensive configuration, Aion LX Plus will offer an ottoman chair, 5G support, Face ID system and other equipment.

The top variant of the Ayon LH Plus, called Thousands of miles, comes with a 144.4 kWh battery and a range of 1008 km. At the same time, it is stated that the battery offered for this version has almost the same weight and size indicators as the regular LX. The main feature is the new patented technology, which includes a sponge silicon cathode, which gives a higher energy density and allows to reduce the size of the battery by 20% and the overall weight by 14%. This model is front wheel drive. With an electric motor with a power of 180 kW (245 hp) and a torque of 350 Nm, it can accelerate to 170 km/h and 0-100 in 7.9 seconds. The youngest version of the Aion LX Plus 80 Zhizun Edition is equipped with the same motor, but it uses a traditional-type lithium-ion battery with a capacity of 93 kWh (the same as the previous LX), for this modification it provides a range of 650 km. The all-wheel drive version of the 80D has two electric motors with a total output of 360 kW (490 hp). This version accelerates to “hundreds” in 3.9 seconds, and the maximum speed is 180 km/h. Range - 600 km. In terms of charging capabilities, it was reported that for its latest machines, GAC will provide support with stations up to 480 kW, with which the charging time of 0-80% percent will be up to eight minutes, and less than five minutes from 30 to 80%.

The GAC Aion LX crossover was created on the same GEP (GAC Electric Platform) modular platform as the Aion S sedan, but here it is stretched - the wheelbase has been increased to 2920 mm (for the sedan 2750 mm). It is also noteworthy that the crossover has a multi-link rear suspension, which initially made it possible to produce all-wheel drive models. The electric car is interesting for its large interior space, while its dimensions are not so bulky: the body length is 4786 mm, the width is 1935 mm, and the height is 1685 mm.

In terms of security, the GAC Aion LX Plus 2022 gets the most advanced systems. Standard equipment includes anti-lock brakes (ABS) with brake force distribution (EBD), traction control and stabilization systems, an automatic parking brake and a hill start assistant. Along the perimeter of the cabin there are six airbags (front, front side, curtains). Active driver assistance systems include fatigue and blind spot monitoring, traffic sign recognition, adaptive cruise control and a collision warning emergency braking system.
