In 2021, BYD is introducing a new generation of the Yuan crossover, which will receive the Plus prefix to the name to separate it from the previous model, with which it has been sold in parallel since 2022. The new Yuan Plus becomes more spacious than the first generation - not only the external dimensions are increased, but also the wheelbase (almost 18.5 cm). The exterior design uses the latest BYD family brand identity under the designation Dragon Face 3.0. Inside the machine, an intelligent DiLink 4.0 complex with rich external connection options is used.

BYD Yuan Plus is equipped with a proprietary third-generation electric platform. It takes 7.3 seconds to accelerate from standstill to 100 km/h, which is a good result for an electric vehicle of this class. The lithium iron phosphate battery has an energy density of 15 Wh/kg and is equipped with a highly efficient heat pump system and guaranteed capacity over a wide temperature range from minus 30 to plus 60 degrees Celsius.

Both independent suspensions are used in the chassis design of the new BYD Yuan Plus electric crossover: MacPherson struts are installed at the front, and a multi-link scheme at the rear. The wheels are 215/55 R18. As for the external dimensions, the length, width and height of the Yuan Plus are 4455/1875/1615 mm, respectively, and the wheelbase is 2720 mm. The volume of the trunk at the time of the presentation of the model was not disclosed, but it is unlikely to be of significant size, and the possibilities for transformation are common - the rear seat backs can be lowered (divided in a ratio of 40/60) to increase space for things.

BYD Yuan Plus is an excellent candidate for the role of the second electric car in the family. By its design and technical component, one can judge that BYD models have taken a huge step forward. The advantages of the novelty are a more spacious interior than in the previous generation, suitable for an electric car a class higher. In terms of power, Yuan Plus is not inferior to competitors, entry-level electric crossovers.
